Exploring Mushkpuri Top – A Journey to Pakistan’s Breathtaking Heights

By: Taha Mahmood Khan – Explorer of Pakistan’s Hidden Gems

Pakistan is a land of natural wonders, and if you are looking for a peaceful escape into lush green hills, cool breezes, and panoramic views, Mushkpuri Top is a destination you should not miss. As someone who has explored Pakistan from the deep deserts of Thar to the snowy passes of Hunza, I, Taha Mahmood Khan, want to take you on a virtual journey to one of my favorite spots: Mushkpuri Top.

πŸ“ Where is Mushkpuri Top?

Mushkpuri (also spelled Mukshpuri) is the second highest peak in the Galiyat region, located near the beautiful town of Nathia Gali in Abbottabad District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It stands tall at around 9,200 feet (2,800 meters) and offers a moderately easy trek suitable for both beginners and nature lovers.

πŸ₯Ύ The Trek to Mushkpuri Top

The most common route starts from Nathia Gali, a charming hill station about a 3-hour drive from Islamabad. The trek is around 4 kilometers one way, winding through thick pine forests, colorful meadows, and sometimes snow-covered paths (depending on the season).

⛰️ What to Expect:

  • Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours (one way)

  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

  • Altitude: ~9,200 ft

  • Trail type: Dirt paths, rocky patches, slight incline

Along the way, you may encounter:

  • Wildflowers and butterflies in summer

  • Snow and frozen trees in winter

  • Breathtaking panoramic views of the Kashmir mountains

πŸ“Έ Top Attractions at the Top

Once you reach Mushkpuri Top, you'll be rewarded with:

  • A 360-degree view of the surrounding valleys

  • Fresh air and peaceful silence

  • Possible sighting of snow leopards' footprints or rare birds (if you’re lucky)

  • Perfect spots for picnics, photography, and drone shots

🧭 Tips by Your Guide, Taha Mahmood Khan

Here are my personal travel tips for anyone planning to visit Mushkpuri:

  1. Start early: Mornings offer clearer skies and better views.

  2. Wear hiking shoes: The trail can be slippery, especially in winter.

  3. Bring water and light snacks: No shops on the trail!

  4. Respect nature: Don’t litter. Let’s keep this paradise clean.

  5. Best time to go: April to October for greenery, November to March for snow.

πŸ•️ Nearby Attractions

If you have time, I recommend also exploring:

  • Dunga Gali Pine Line Track – a peaceful forest walk

  • Miranjani Top – another trekking challenge

  • Ayubia National Park – wildlife and family fun

  • Nathia Gali Bazaar – great for local food and souvenirs

✨ Final Words

Whether you're a first-time traveler or a seasoned trekker, Mushkpuri Top has something for everyone. It’s a place that refreshes the soul and reminds us of the unmatched beauty of Pakistan. As a passionate guide and explorer of this country, I, Taha Mahmood Khan, invite you to put this gem on your travel bucket list.
